Antonio Banderas Biography

Antonio Banderas, a Spanish actor, director, and producer, was born on August 9, 1960, in Málaga, Andalusia. His parents were José Domínguez, a police officer in the Civil Guard, and Ana Bandera Gallego, a school teacher. Banderas kickstarted his acting career with a string of films directed by Pedro Almodóvar.
He went on to star in several high-profile Hollywood productions in the 1990s, including Assassins, Evita, Interview with the Vampire, Philadelphia, Desperado, The Mask of Zorro, and Spy Kids. Additionally, Banderas lent his voice to the character “Puss in Boots” in the Shrek sequels and Puss in Boots, as well as to the bee in Nasonex commercials in the US.
In 2005, Antonio Banderas was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd. Furthermore, he was granted an honorary doctorate from the University of Málaga, his birthplace, in May 2010.
