Benjamin Thomas Barnes, an English actor, was born in London to Tricia and Thomas Barnes. Tricia is a relationship therapist and Thomas is a professor of psychiatry. Barnes has a younger brother named Jack. Tricia, who hails from South Africa, is of Jewish descent. Barnes has gained recognition for his performances as Caspian X in The Chronicles of Narnia movies Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. He also played the lead role in the 2009 adaptation of Dorian Gray, appeared in supporting roles in The Words and The Big Wedding, and portrayed American Founding Father Samuel Adams in the 2015 miniseries, Sons of Liberty.

Having started his career in musical theatre, Barnes has a background in performing arts. During his teenage years, he was a member of the National Youth Music Theatre, which counts acclaimed actors such as Jude Law and Jamie Bell among its alumni. Barnes later played the character of Thomas in Seventh Son (2014), a film based on The Spook’s Apprentice novel. Production began in March 2012. In addition, he portrayed Sam Adams in the History Channel’s fictional three-part mini-series Sons of Liberty in 2015 and co-starred with Katherine Heigl in the romantic drama Jackie & Ryan. In July 2015, it was announced that Barnes would replace Eion Bailey as Logan in HBO’s forthcoming science fiction thriller Westworld.
