Bill Nighy is a renowned English actor known for his memorable portrayals of two of modern cinema’s most iconic villains. He captivated audiences as Davy Jones in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and as Victor in the “Underworld” series. He also received praise for his role in the beloved holiday film “Love Actually.
Bill Nighy was raised in a Roman Catholic household with his mother, Catherine Josephine Nighy, a psychiatric nurse hailing from Glasgow, and his father, Alfred Martin Nighy, who managed a car garage.

Before transitioning to television, Bill Nighy had a thriving theater career. He rose to fame in 2003 when he played the role of the vampire elder, Viktor, in the film “Underworld,” which starred Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen. He reprised his role in “Underworld: Evolution” and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.” However, his most iconic role to date remains Davy Jones, the immortal captain of the Flying Dutchman in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. He portrayed the character, who had tentacles in place of a beard, in “Dead Man’s Chest” and “At World’s End.” Nighy was awarded the BAFTA Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Billy Mack in “Love Actually.” He also appeared in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1,” “Wrath of the Titans,” and the remake of “Total Recall.
Personal Life
Bill Nighy had a long-standing relationship of 27 years with the English actress Diana Quick, but the couple never tied the knot. They have a daughter named Mary Nighy. Unfortunately, the couple separated in 2007. On the personal front, Nighy is a fan of the soccer team Crystal Palace in the Barclays Premier League.
