Jesse Adam Eisenberg, a multi-talented American, is renowned for his acting, writing, and playwriting skills. He came into this world in Queens, New York, and spent his childhood in East Brunswick Township, New Jersey. Eisenberg’s mother, Amy (née Fishman), currently an instructor in cultural sensitivity for hospitals, previously held a variety of jobs, including working as a clown at children’s parties and choreographing for a Catholic high school for two decades.
Jesse Adam Eisenberg, the acclaimed American actor, author, and playwright, was born in Queens, New York and raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey. His mother, Amy (née Fishman), who presently instructs on cross-cultural sensitivity in hospitals, previously pursued a career as a children’s party clown and choreographer for a Catholic high school over a period of 20 years. Eisenberg’s father, Barry Eisenberg, first drove a taxi before working in a hospital, eventually becoming a college professor and teaching sociology. The talented artist has two siblings: Hallie Kate Eisenberg, a former child actress well-known as the “Pepsi girl” from a series of commercials, and Kerri Eisenberg, now known as Kerry Lea, who also pursued acting and started a vegetarian and animal rights-oriented children’s theater troupe before becoming an independent artist in New York.
Eisenberg’s initial foray into television was with the short-lived comedy-drama series, Get Real (1999-2000). After his debut, he secured his first lead role in the comedy-drama film, Roger Dodger (2002). He subsequently starred in a variety of movies, such as the drama film, The Emperor’s Club (2002), the psychological thriller, The Village (2004), the comedy-drama, The Squid and the Whale (2005), and the drama, The Education of Charlie Banks (2007). In recognition of his performance in The Living Wake, Eisenberg was awarded the Vail Film Festival Rising Star Award in 2006.
Eisenberg has showcased his writing talents by contributing works to The New Yorker and McSweeney’s websites. He has also written and acted in three plays for the New York stage, namely Asuncion, The Revisionist, and The Spoils. In September 2015, Eisenberg made his debut as an author with Bream Gives Me Hiccups: and Other Stories, a collection of short stories.
Personal life
From 2002 to 2012, Eisenberg was in a relationship with Anna Strout, whom he met on the set of The Emperor’s Club, where she worked as a crew member and assistant. Eisenberg then dated his The Double co-star, Mia Wasikowska, from 2013 to 2015. In 2017, Eisenberg and Strout rekindled their romance and subsequently tied the knot. They welcomed a son in the same year. Eisenberg has teamed up with Strout on a project that involves supporting a domestic violence shelter in Indiana, where Strout’s mother, Toby Strout, holds the position of executive director.
Until his sister Hallie and her boyfriend, Owen Danoff, moved to Nashville in June 2016, Eisenberg resided with them in New York. Owen Danoff is a singer-songwriter and was a participant in the tenth season of NBC’s The Voice. Eisenberg has been honing his drumming skills since he was eight years old. In 2007, Eisenberg collaborated with his cousin, who is a social design evangelist at Facebook, to create an online wordplay website called OneUpMe. They re-launched the website in 2010 with an exclusive format for Facebook users.
Eisenberg is a former playwright of the Bloomington Playwrights Project. Interestingly, despite being raised in New Jersey, Eisenberg is an ardent supporter of the Indiana Pacers basketball team.
