Laurence Fishburne, a versatile and highly skilled performer in Hollywood, and a recipient of the prestigious Primetime Emmy® Award are most renowned for his portrayal of “Morpheus” in the iconic science fiction movie trilogy, The Matrix, which was released in 1999.

On July 30, 1961, Laurence John Fishburne III came into the world in Augusta, Georgia, born to Hattie Bell (Crawford) and Laurence John Fishburne Jr. His mother worked as a mathematics and science teacher at a junior high school, while his father served as a juvenile corrections officer. Unfortunately, Fishburne’s parents separated during his childhood, prompting Hattie Bell to move her family to Brooklyn. He is an American actor, playwright, director, and producer.

After graduating from Lincoln Square Academy in New York, Fishburne began his career in acting by playing Joshua Hall in the ABC soap opera One Life to Live in 1973. He made his debut on the big screen two years later in the film Cornbread, Earl and Me. In the late 1970s, Fishburne returned to Hollywood and began playing small supporting roles in both films and television shows. Despite his success in the film industry, Fishburne has always maintained a connection to both the stage and TV throughout his career. He changed his name from Larry to Laurence in his films in 1991.

In 1985, Fishburne tied the knot with actress Hajna O. Moss in New York, and together they had two children: a son named Langston, who was born in 1987, and a daughter named Montana, who was born in 1991. However, the couple separated and divorced in the 1990s. Later on, Fishburne entered into a second marriage with Cuban-American actress Gina Torres on September 22, 2002.
