Mark Hamill Biography

Mark Richard Hamill, an American actor, writer, and voice actor, was born in Oakland, California. His parents were Virginia Suzanne (née Johnson; 1927–98) and U.S. Navy Captain William Thomas Hamill (b. 1927).

In the early days of his career, Mark Hamill had recurring roles on General Hospital and starred in the sitcom The Texas Wheelers. He also made guest appearances on The Bill Cosby Show, The Partridge Family, and One Day at a Time, and appeared in television films like The City and Sarah T. – Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic. Though he portrayed the oldest son, David, in the pilot episode of Eight Is Enough, the role was later played by Grant Goodeve.

Mark Hamill is famous for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film series. He also appeared in the movies Corvette Summer (1978) and The Big Red One (1980). In addition to his on-screen work, he has an extensive career as a voice actor, including his long-standing role as the Joker in DC Comics’ Batman: The Animated Series which started in 1992.
