Peter Dinklage is a beloved American actor who has become a household name thanks to his breakout role in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Born with achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism, Dinklage has faced many challenges in his life, but he has never let his condition stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Early Life and Education
Peter Dinklage was born in Morristown, New Jersey, in 1969. He was the only child of John Carl Dinklage, a retired insurance salesman, and Diane Dinklage, a music teacher. Dinklage was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that results in short stature.
Dinklage grew up in a loving family that was very supportive of his interests. He was particularly interested in acting and began performing in plays at a young age. Dinklage attended Delbarton School, a Catholic school for boys, and went on to study drama at Bennington College in Vermont.
Career
After graduating from college, Dinklage moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. He appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions and also worked as a data processor to make ends meet. Dinklage’s big break came in 2003 when he starred in the indie film The Station Agent. The film was a critical success, and Dinklage’s performance was praised by critics.
Dinklage went on to appear in a number of films and TV shows, but it wasn’t until he was cast as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones that he became a household name. Dinklage won four Primetime Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Tyrion, and he was also nominated for a Golden Globe.

Dinklage is married to Erica Schmidt, a theater director, and the couple has two children together. Dinklage is an animal lover and has been involved with a number of animal rights organizations. He is also an advocate for disability rights and has spoken out about the need for greater representation of people with disabilities in Hollywood.
